Earlier today, during a press conference with federal ministers and health officials. the
Government of Canada announced that persons who are currently authorized to enter thee
country, including international students (study permit holders). AND are fully
vaccinated against CovID-19, will no longer be required to quarantine at a government
designated hotel upon arrival, starting in early July.

Fully vaccinated travellers are those who have had the full course of a cOVID-19 vaccine
recognized by Health Canada (Moderna. Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson) 14 days or
more prior to their arrival. These travellers wll still be required to undergo a COVID-19 test
upon arrival, and stay in isolation until the test comes back negative.

Languages Canada has advocated relentlessly for measures and policies intended to make
studying in Canada more accessible for international students, and we are especially pleased to
see the removal of the mandatory 3-day government-designated hotel stay, a measure which
increased costs and posed significant difficulties for students.

The new rules are set to start in early July, according to Health Minister Hadju. We will share
further details with members, such as the exact start date, as soon as these become available.
